Our mission is to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and take in the stranger. Hearing the command of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Portage Resale Shop has been established for ministries of compassion in our community.
Portage Resale Shop is a locally-founded, self-funded, volunteer based 501c3 nonprofit with a mission to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and take in the stranger. We are a Christ centered organization, relying on Biblical principles for guidance and direction. Our purpose is to provide free or low cost clothing, household items, and other necessities to individuals in need, as well as provide monetary funding to other organizations that fulfill all or part of our mission.
Over the years, we have impacted the lives of thousands families in Northwest Indiana by providing low cost clothing, household and other items, as well as fulfilling referral from over 90 different agencies, providing free clothing and items to individuals experiencing or transitioning from homelessness or other situations. We have provided over 25,000 free coats, averaging more than 2000 per year. We have also given away more than $500,000 in monetary or in-kind donations to other local organizations that compliment our mission. We also donated the land valued around $500,000 for Prominence Commons, a 48 unit housing complex for low income families.
We are currently accepting 3-4 bag or boxes per drop off during or after business hours. We have a shed for after hours donations but can only accept 3-4 bags or boxes per drop off per day. Thank you.
